Kobe Tribute Cornhole

This one started as a simple idea and turned into a lot more time than I expected but I’m glad it did.

From the beginning, the goal was to keep these boards functional, solid, and clean, while still paying respect to one of the greatest to ever do it. I wanted something that felt intentional, not rushed.

The boards themselves were built using 2” x 4” framing and ¾” plywood for the tops.

For the legs, I needed them to be foldable, so I went with carriage bolts.

It was my first time working with them, but after some trial and error, they ended up working perfectly and gave the boards a solid, clean hinge point.

To cut the holes, I used a saw arbor with a 6” hole saw.

That part was straightforward, but still one of those moments where you slow down and triple-check before committing.

Once everything was assembled, I moved into finishing. I laid down three coats of paint, followed by multiple layers of water-based polyurethane to protect the surface and keep everything durable.

The final step was adding the graphics , which is where the whole piece really came together.

All things considered, I’d say they came out pretty nice.
