Multi-Use Custom Crate / Portable Table

Ever seen a multi-use crate that turns into a portable table?
Yeah… me neither.

My guys Steven randomly hit me up and asked if I could make something he saw online.

I stared at the inspo photo for a minute and said, “yeah, that doesn’t look too complicated.”
(Those are usually famous last words.)

I had never built anything like this before, but just like most projects I take on, I treated it as a learning opportunity rather than something I needed to get perfect on the first try.

I started by sketching out some rough plans, grabbed a sheet of ¾” plywood, used whatever hardware I already had lying around, and just went for it.

No overthinking, just building and adjusting as I went.

The process itself was pretty straightforward, but the finishing is always what stretches these projects out. I sanded forever, painted it cobalt blue, and added a few layers of polyurethane to protect it and keep it durable.

For the handles, I cut up an old tote bag and turned the straps into something functional instead of buying new hardware.

The last step was adding the Dodgers decals, which tied the whole thing together and gave it some personality.

The end result was exactly what I was hoping for:
functional, portable, and easy to move, while still being clean enough to use as a table when needed.

Projects like this are a reminder that you don’t need everything figured out before you start. Sometimes you just build, adjust, and learn as you go.
