Personalized Door Mat

This one was for my OGs, Kris & Lisa aka the Takahamas!

Crazy part is this year actually marks 11 years of training together, which still doesn’t feel real.

I came across a personalized doormat online and, like usual, went down another rabbit hole.

It looked simple enough, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

What you don’t see at first glance is that this was not a one-and-done project.

I went through five different mats before landing on this one.

A couple of them failed for the dumbest reason too, I didn’t center the graphic properly.

Small mistake, but once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

Instead of forcing it, I scrapped them and started over.

By the fifth try, I finally slowed down, double-checked everything, and took my time with the layout before committing.

That small shift made all the difference.

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of love on my projects, which I genuinely appreciate, but I always want to be clear about something:
I’m not some hidden talent or anything special. I’m just persistent.

Setbacks are part of the process. Sometimes progress looks like restarting. Sometimes it looks like throwing away work that almost made it.

Five mats later, here we are.
